Indie Folk Artist, Jetty Rae will be featured at The Red Jacket Jamboree on December 22.
The December show “Christmas in Calumet” shares stories and music reflecting the season. An eclectic array of holiday music by the Red Jacket Band and guest artists, will be woven into historical narratives, interviews and humorous sketches by Red Jacket Actors.
Jetty Rae, a northern Michigander with a bluesy soulful voice, has been singing, touring, and recording since 2006. In the last 10 years she's recorded 9 albums including a Christmas Album, “More than December” and “Can’t Curse the Free,” released this past February.
“I hope that when people hear my songs they hear their own stories being told back to them. As a songwriter I want to help people understand themselves on a new level and think – that is exactly what I’ve been trying to articulate for myself.” Jetty says. “These songs are for the down and outers, the lost and hopeless, for the longing the troubled. There is hope, and it’s in connection.”
Rebecca Glotfelty, Director of Real People Media, described Jetty's ability to connect with her audience as being a key reason for selecting her for this show. “Jetty has such a wide fan base. She appeals to high schools students, young families and seniors because her songs come straight from her heart. She's not presenting bubble gum pop, she shares her struggles during her performances. She's a great storyteller and she's real.”
Jetty Rae often shares how her Christian faith has lifted her up out of tough times. This faith is a common theme throughout her music. “For 'Christmas in Calumet' we wanted to bring an artist who was interested in sharing their personal joy and connection to the holiday,” added Glotfelty.
